Carol Creighton Burnett is an American actress, who did not limit her career only to acting. She was born on the 26 of April, 1933. Apart from making her position in acting, she is also known as a comedian, singer, dancer and writer. She had her humble beginning of her acting career in New York. She was good in her acting career and has given many successes to Hollywood.

After she became a notable figure in Broadway, she decided to try her acting on the small screen. Her debut in television was also as big a success as her career on the silver screen. She made several successful appearances on the television, of which of special mention is The Garry Moore Show. After he success with the television, she moved over to Los Angeles.

In Los Angeles, Carol Burnett started The Carol Burnett Show. The show was a big hit amongst American television audience. It ran for a eleven year period from 1967 to 1978 on CBS television. The show was pro comedy and had a unique combination of comedy sketches, dance and song. The comedy sketches were varied and had a mix of both movie parodies and character pieces. The characters pieces showcased the many different talents Carol herself had. In fact she created many of these characters and played their roles, which left a strong mark on the American Television audience.

The show that Carol Burnett started and hosted still remains one of the most successful shows on television. She has also been nominated to many television awards. She was nominated for the Emmy Award following her character in Friendly Fire as Peg Mullen, who is a strong anti-Vietnam War activist. She tried to return to the television in the nineties, but the shows she hosted were not as successful as the original. However she won an Emmy award for her role in Mad About You in her comeback. Of the many awards she has received during her career spanning over five decades, the notable ones are Kennedy Center Honors, awarded in 2003 and the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2005. In the year 1985, she was inducted into the Television Hall of Fame.
