The cast comprised of Tim Conway, Harvey Korman, Lyle Waggoner and teenager Vicki Lawrence - who was cast occasionally because she looked like a young Burnett.

Carol Burnett became popular with her acting and tremendous amount of many other talents. Something unique was, that at the end of each show she tugs her ear, which was a message to her grandmother who brought her up, that she was doing well and she loved her.

The simplest of shows - The Carol Burnett Show touched the hearts of many through the parodies of films - "Went With The Wind", and television series - "As the Stomach Turns" along with many other commercials. Carol Burnett struck gold with her original skit "The Family", which eventually brought out the television show called "Mama's Family" starring Vicki Lawrence.

This show became famous for its theme song, which touched the hearts of many, and contained the following lyrics:

I'm so glad we had this time together

Just to have a laugh or sing a song

Seems we just started and before you know it

Comes the time we have to say, 'So long.'

It was during this show's run that Carol Burnett's grandmother, who had brought her up since she was a kid, died. She recalled her grandmother's last moments very emotionally during one of her shows.

Considered as the last successful major network variety show, to date, The Carol Burnett Show ceased production in the 1978. But the show yet continues to have success in syndicated reruns. Carol was very open and friendly with her fans and never refused an autograph.

She also starred in a couple of films, and after her shows ended, her roles in the movies were far from comedy. She appeared in several dramatic roles, played the role of Beatrice O'Rielly in the film "Life of a Party: The Story of Beatrice, which was a film about a woman fighting her alcoholism. Carol Burnett's other film work includes The Four Seasons, Annie, Noises Off and her newest movie is "Horton Hears a Who".
