Friday the 13th: The Series is a television series that ran for three seasons, from September 28, 1987 to May 26, 1990.

Originally, the series was to be titled The 13th Hour, but producer Frank Mancuso Jr. thought this would turn away viewers and instead took the name "Friday the 13th" to deliberately draw in audiences. Despite this title, the series has no story connections to the film series of the same name, as Jason Voorhees does not make an appearance.

The two series have several cast and crew ties, however. The show's producer, Frank Mancuso Jr., was also producer of the movie series from Friday the 13th Part 2 (1981) until the final installment distributed by Paramount (Friday the 13th Part VIII: Jason Takes Manhattan in 1989, a year before the TV series ended). The show's star, John D. LeMay, is also notable as he went on to star in Jason Goes To Hell: The Final Friday (guest star John Shepherd played Tommy Jarvis in Friday the 13th: A New Beginning and episode director David Cronenberg [who also directed the 1986 horror feature The Fly] appeared in Jason X). Fred Mollin, Rob Hedden, and Tom McLoughlin also worked behind the scenes of both series.

NBC Universal's horror-themed cable channel Chiller, which launched on March 1, 2007, airs the series weekdays at 8:00AM Eastern/7:00AM Central and 3:00PM Eastern/2:00PM Central.  During a viewers' choice marathon on October 7, 2007, "Scarecrow" was voted most popular episode. The top five episodes were rebroadcast on Election Day, November 6, 2007. The show has also been among the many second-run programming aired on the SCI FI channel. After a few years of absence, the channel began airing the series again starting October 10, 2008 with three more day-long marathons scheduled through November.

Friday the 13th: The Series ran for three seasons is an Canadian-American horror television series started from 3rd October, 1987 to 26th May, 1990 in first-run. The series in the start was to be titled as The 13th Hour, but Frank Mancuso Jr who is the producer thought this would not attract viewers and instead choose the name Friday the 13th to intentionally draw in audience.

Despite of this title, the series had no story links with the film series by the same title, as no one from the film like Jason Voorhees made any appearance in the series, nor does any character connected to the films. These two series had several cast and crew, however.

Frank Mancuso Jr the show producer also produced the movie series Friday the 13th Part 2 (1981) until the final payment scattered by Paramount (in 1989 Friday the 13th Part VIII: Jason Takes Manhattan just a year earlier the TV series finished). The star of the show, John D. Lemay was also casted in Jason Goes to Hell: The Final Friday, Tommy Jarvis played by John Shepherd in Friday the 13th: A New Beginning also did the guest appearance , and David Cronenberg the episode director also appeared in Jason X. In both series Fred Mollin, Rob Hedden, and Tom McLoughlin worked behind the scenes. idea “A deal was made with the devil to sell cursed antiques by Lewis Vendredi.

But he broke the deal, and it charged him his soul. The store was inherited by his niece Micki, and her cousin Ryan... along with it, the curse. Now everything must get back and the actual horror begins.” -- introduction that started each episode. Lewis Vendredi (played by R.G. Armstrong) an antiques dealer made a pact with the Devil to vend cursed antiques out of his store, “Vendredi’s Antiques”, in replace for wealth, magic powers, immortality and magic powers.

He ultimately put himself against the Devil and bust the pact. The Devil arrived and took the soul of Vendredi (“Friday” in French) because of flouting the deal. Shop owned by Lewis was inherited by his niece, Micki Foster (played by Louise Robey) and her cousin shes married to named Ryan Dallion (played by John D. LeMay). Many of the cursed antiques were sold before being clogged by Jack Marshak (played by Chris Wiggins).

Jack was a friend of Lewis, who was a retired occultist and world-traveler who firstly collected many of the antiques items for Vendredi before they became cursed. Protagonists are followed by the series as they chase down the cursed antiques, that most of the time is in the custody of people who use to discover their evil powers and are not willing to give them up. Since those cursed antiques are totally everlasting, these must be sheltered away in a burial chamber under “Curious Goods” ( rechristened antique store) that was designed to magically make the items static. Records of all the cursed objects sold are held by a manifest that was written by Lewis.
