Lassie is a 1954 family drama television series created by Robert Maxwell. The TV program revolved around the adventures of Lassie, a female Rough Collie dog, in a farming community and the wilderness as well as her encounters with humans and animals.

The children's TV series aired on CBS from September 12, 1954 to March 24, 1973. It ran for 19 seasons with a total of 588 episodes. From seasons 1 to 10, the show was filmed in black-and-white picture format.

Lassie starred Jon Provost as Timmy Martin, June Lockhart as Ruth Martin, Hugh Reilly as Paul Martin, Jan Clayton as Ellen Miller and Tommy Rettig as Jeff Miller. Recurring characters in the TV series were portrayed by Joey D. Vieira, George Chandler, Jon Shepodd, Arthur Space, Cloris Leachman, Todd Ferrell, Jed Allan, Florence Lake, Andy Clyde and Richard Garland.

For two consecutive years starting 1955, Lassie won the Emmy Award for Best Children's Series. In 1956, the TV program won the Peabody Award.
