Doug was an American animated series that originally aired on Nickelodeon, and starred 6th grader Douglas Yancey Funnie.

Doug premiered on Nickelodeon on August 11, 1991, where it continued until December 16, 1994 and in reruns until 1999, being the first Nicktoon. The creator of the show, Jim Jinkins, named the main character Doug after his godson, Doug Eckhardt.[citation needed] The idea for "Quailman," an imaginary superhero which the main character Doug often pretends to be in the cartoon, was inspired by a similar superhero invented by Doug Eckhardt when he was younger. The original version was moved to Nickelodeon's sister-station Noggin, and later to Nicktoons TV, where it ended in 2005. These seasons were produced between 1991 and 1994. In 1996, Disney produced new episodes following its acquisition of Jumbo Pictures. It ran on ABC from 1996-1999, as part of Disney's One Saturday Morning block and on The Toon Disney Channel from 2001-2004. Disney's Doug also aired on UPN's Disney's One Too Weekday morning block from 1999-2000. Re-runs aired on The Disney Channel from 2001-2002.

Doug is an animated American Sitcom, Jim Jinkins being the creator and Nickelodeon Network’s Jumbo Pictures being the production team, as the foremost sitcom in the unbeaten way of Nicktoons. One Saturday Morning block of ABC Network then aired the series lately, to produce for Disney.

Design

The series has been filmed in the fabricated city of Bluffington, where Doug Funnie and his family unit have shifted from Bloatsburg, showing the life of the character in title, Doug Funnie, diarist and a grade-schooler. [2]

Doug of Nickelodeon (1991 until 1994)

Nickelodeon premiered Doug on 11 August 1991, and continued until 16 December 1994 and continued reshow until 2002, to be the original Nicktoon. In 2009, MTV Tr3s affiliation with KMOH-TV and KBEH, as E/I Program, the reshow of programs of Doug of Nickelodeon were aired in America and in UK on Nicktoonsters.

The Nickelodeon’s Doug starts its leading episode, showing Douglas Yancey Funnie with his family, Theda, Phil and Judy (sister), reaching a new town known as Bluffington. They previously lived in Bloatsburg. A fresh life starts for them when they meet Patti, Beebe, Skeeter and Roger.

It had been stated by the creator of “Ren and Stimpy Show”, John Kricfalusi, on a commentary on DVD that Doug had been banked to be the major Hit of Nickelodeon, among the rest three original Nictoons, also Rugrats. [3]

Disney's Doug (1996 until1999)

In the year 1996, Disney structured Doug’s latest episodes to be produced, and was renamed as Brand Spanking New! Doug. The production continued from 1996 until 1999. [4]

Numerous variations between the Disney and the Original versions subsist. Changes like a brand new theme song and an addition of a younger sister, Cleopetra Dirtbike Funnie, are observed in Disney’s production. Regarding time, the age of Doug had been changed to 12½ years. A number of other small changes in the character were added that includes a new hairstyle and a murky skin tenor of Patti Mayonnaise; and Connie Benge was changed to thin from a fat character.

The haircut for Doug was less observed than the new look for Patti hairstyle, because of the trademark contemplation. [Citation required] Disney’ Doug had 9 hairs, while the original had 8. Roger Klotz was changed to be shown as wealthy, being poor in the trailer park in the past; concluding of Honker Burger (a caricature of the real-life In-N-Out Burger, though, be substituted by Swirly's), Mrs. Dink had become mayor and the Beets (a wobbly mimicry of “The Beatles”) flouting up. Clothing of Skeeter's also changed- the lightning lock on the shirt turned to zero, along with the colors of clothes. The Skunky Beaumont character is also seen prominent that was only heard before.
