Cherish yourself with Caroll Burnett's Fantastic shows on theatre

The popular show changed the stars everyday calling names to symbolic gestures like "As the Stomach Turns","Went with the Wind" (a caricature of Gone with the Wind,in a scene of which Scarlett O'Hara (Burnett) was wearing a dress made of curtain along with the curtain rod),"Carol & Sis", "Mr. Tudball and Mrs. Wiggins", "The Family"(which was shaped into a TV show later),"Nora Desmond"(Burnett imitation of Gloria Swanson's character Norma Desmond in Sunset Boulevard),and "Stella Toddler".

The show includes a unique feature of questioning. This session involves Carol Burnett and the audience in CBS Studio 33.Carol most shows starts with 3-4 minutes of this session. In an interactive way Carol would ask to lit the lights above the audience and then roam around to find suitable audience members who want to ask questions. This session was possible due to the architecture of studio 33,camera locations were so suitable that actors become very close to the audience with one camera on each side, one in the pit and one above the audience.

A young woman put forth a question like : "Do you have experience in taking acting lessons?",In response to this Carol replied "Yes, i have taken lessons" One of the Audience member asked "Do you feel that those lessons helped you?"

Rehearsal of the show was carried out daily for three to four hours until the Friday recordings, when two tapes were made.Due to the presence of only two tapes,if an actor made a mistake or misses a line then the fault will be broadcast providing the show some concurrence. The only exceptions were the pickups that are used for musical numbers most of the time.

This program provided Burnett a perfect platform to show her acting and talent and she became well known for her skills as well as tugging her ear which was a gesture of love to her grandmother who had raised Burnett.

The Carol Burnett show was a true gem,a very simple and light variety show which amuses its viewers through parodies of movies like ("Went With the Wind"), television ("As the Stomach Turns") and TV advertisements. The talented team of the show came cross mountain of gold with the original skit "The Family" which later on turned into a proper TV show "Mama's Family" featuring Lawrence.
