Charo appears in Carol Burnett Show

American actress carol Burnett is best known for the Caron Burnett Show. The show debuted in 1967 on CBS television. It ran successfully for over a decade and touched millions of American hearts. Not only did it became popular but also was nominated for several awards. During the time it was aired, it has always been nominated for Emmy award and went on to add 23 Emmy awards to its bag of awards.

The show used to be aired for an hour. The cast included Tim Conway, Harvey Korman, Lyle Waggoner and Vicki Lawrence. The partial reason for casting Lawrence was that she looked like Burnett when she was young. The show was a variety show with a combination of comedy, dance and music. CBS however did not really favor a variety show primarily because they believed that only men could be successful in variety shows. Burnett was able to telecast the show because of the contract that she had with CBS, which required that she be given at least one season of the show. CBS never regretted that they allowed her to do what she wanted to. The show was an instant success and is still remembered as one of the most successful shows on television.

Burnett was appreciated very much for her talent in acting. At the end of each show she had a unique way of thanking her grandmother, with whom she grew up. She used to tug her ear to show her love for her grandmother.

The show showcased real variety, yet was very simple. It was able to reach out to millions of viewers. The show basically showed parodies of movies, television and commercials. The biggest success was the original skit The Family. It was so successful that it took a turn from the show and created a separate show called the Mama's Family. This show starred Vicki Lawrence.

The Carol Burnett show has had personalities such as Charo appear as guest artists. Charo is a famous Spanish actress who is known for her flashy stage appearances. The cuchi-cuchi girl appeared in the show somewhere in the late sixties along side Carol Burnett who was dressed up as Charo's mother.
