Carol Burnett's key to success

One of Carol Burnett quotes says that if you have a dream, you have to go for it no matter what until it is fulfilled, and that is what she did in her life. Her mother wanted that she becomes a secretary and marries a rich man, but this was not what Carol wished for: she wanted to study, go to college and do something big with her life.

And so she did: first she wanted to be in musical comedy on the Broadway (she played in the musical "Once upon a Mattress" and won an Emmy for it), but then was asked perform in The Gary Moore Show and realized that television is much more interesting because she had to play every week another role and she sang further on (on the Broadway she would have had to play the same role every week or the same performance more times which was less exciting than television). The reason why she was chosen to perform in that show is because she was courageous playing different roles and was not afraid to be zany or goofy and she once said that her loud voice also contributed to be chosen.

She had a secondary role in The Gary Moore Show, but that was all right for her because she knew that in life you have to be first small in order to get big later and because of her amazing talents both as comedian, singer and actress, she rapidly caught the attention of the entire TV world and then signed a contract with CBC which after few years lead to having her own show, Carol Burnett's show.

Recently she stated that she's tough family situation (alcoholic parents) and the poverty which she had to endure in her youth made her be so persistent and willing to go further on and also her positive attitude to think that, if a door closes, plenty of new ones will open helped her go further on.

When Carol Burnett talks to the youth, she always advise them not to give up because they have only once the occasion to do something with their life and in this way big opportunities will appear on their ways to fulfill the dreams they have.
